John’s Coffee House & Tavern
Our café-bar, John’s Coffee House & Tavern is a place where history, community, and good hospitality come together. Inspired by the original John’s Coffee House, which first opened its doors in 1688, today’s version blends heritage with modern comfort.
We proudly work with local suppliers to showcase the very best of Edinburgh, from locally roasted coffee and teas to Scottish ciders, pastries, and sweet treats.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served from 7am until 11.30am and includes Scottish porridge, our famous waffles, pastries, hot breakfast rolls and healthy bowls.
Lunch
Our lunch menu is available from 12pm to 3pm. Enjoy a selection of soup, paninis, bagels and protein salad.
Dinner
Served from 5pm to 9pm, our dinner menu includes a selection of specialy curated pies and bar bites.
Tavern Bar
Our bar is the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring Edinburgh. With a wide selection of Scotch whiskies from all the whisky regions of Scotland, you can taste the depth and diversity of the country’s most iconic spirit.
We also serve a carefully chosen range of Scottish gins and local beers and ciders from partners such as Bellfield Brewery and Edinburgh Cider Co. Whether you prefer a dram, a pint, or one of our house signature cocktails, the bar at John’s is a place to relax, socialise, and experience the true spirit of Scotland.
