History Meets Luxury

Our Superior Rooms are located on the top floor, the Enlighted Floor, and each is uniquely designed and named after fascinating historical characters connected to Edinburgh and The Court’s story.

Where Great Minds Rest Easy

From philosophers like Adam Smith and David Hume to pioneers like Sophia Jex-Blake and Joseph Knight, and literary legends such as Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson, every room tells its own tale.

Superior rooms

The Enlightened Rooms honour Edinburgh’s great thinkers, writers, and reformers – from Adam Smith and Sophia Jex-Blake to David Hume and Sir Walter Scott. Each premium en-suite subtly reflects its namesake’s character and legacy.

The Family Room

Perfect for small groups or families, our Family Room, the Robert Louis Stevenson room, offers a king bed plus two private pods. Enjoy stunning views of Arthur’s Seat and the Old College while relaxing in a space designed to bring everyone together without compromising privacy or comfort.

The Crossley Engine Room

During our 2025 renovations, the world’s second-oldest four-stroke Crossley engine was discovered right here – in what is now the Crossley Engine Room. This room celebrates that incredible piece of industrial heritage with a unique blend of history and modern luxury.
